Third Lanark Premiere at GFT
Last night our Third Lanark documentary was screened to a packed VIP audience at the Glasgow Film Theatre. The red carpet event was hosted by broadcaster David Tanner, and the film transmission was followed by a Q & A featuring a number of the contributors from the documentary; former Third Lanark players Mike Jackson, Alan Mackay, Tony Connell, John Kinnaird, Dave Hilley and Ian Hilley.
The evening was a terrific success with contributors, their families, the SPFL and SFA chief executives, representatives of the media, competition winners, broadcasters and politicians all in attendance.
There is an album of photographs on our Facebook page so please do have a look. You can tag anyone you know here.
The programme will be broadcast on BBC ALBA on the 27th of January at 9pm. We'll be hosting a watch-a-long on social media so please do join our Facebook event and we can all enjoy the film together.
This film documents an incredibly poignant story.
In 1967, as it edged towards it centenary, a much-loved institution was consigned to history. Following 95 years of emotional highs and lows, Glasgow's Third Lanark Athletic Club was bankrupt, and the gates to Cathkin Park were closed. Third Lanark is the fascinating story of this iconic community club, exploring its formation and existence, as well as its catastrophic collapse.
