Premiere screening success
Our feature-length 'Jimmy Johnstone' film was screened to a select VIP audience of 300 guests at the IMAX cinema in Glasgow this week. In attendance were the Johnstone family, former Celtic and Rangers players, Celtic FC directors and ambassadors, the Chief Executive's of both the SPFL and MG ALBA as well as a whole host of additional family, friends, broadcasters and football celebrities.
Following a reception in BBC Scotland, a piper led the guests across to the cinema. The next part of the evening was then introduced by broadcaster (and film contributor) Archie Macpherson and purpleTV director Allan MacDonald. The film itself was was followed by a Q & A with Jimmy's wife, son, daughters and grandson and then a very emotional session with Bertie Auld, Murdo Macleod and Willie Henderson.
'Jimmy Johnstone' writer, producer and director Margot McCuaig rounded off the evening by giving thanks to the programme funders MG ALBA, the Johnstone family, the contributors, the creative team at purpleTV and Celtic Football Club. Finally, Celtic FC Foundation Chief Executive Tony Hamilton spoke about Jimmy's love for the club and his compassion for others, ending the evening with a collection for the club's charity.
As to the film...well it was a huge success and you can view a video featuring Jimmy's family and friends talking about the film on our Facebook page, (they LOVED it) as well as catching up with some of the great images from the VIP reception and the screening itself.
Don't forget to tune in to BBC ALBA on the 30th of September at 9.30pm to view the film!
