STEELMEN PREMIERE SUCCESS AT EVERYMAN CINEMA IN GLASGOW

On Monday 14th January, we were excited to invite around 100 guests to the Everyman Cinema in Glasgow for a special VIP preview screening of our Steelmen film.

Our Steelmen documentary looks back at a key event in Scotland's social and cultural history from 1991. As the town of Motherwell faced the crippling social, economic and cultural impact of the closure of the Ravenscraig steelworks, its football club, locally known as the Steelmen, lifted the prestigious Scottish Cup for the first time in 39 years, the victory a glimmer of light in the ensuing darkness.

Featuring former players, supporters, academics, historians and workers from Ravenscraig steelworks the film invoked tears and laughter from a very appreciative audience and the screening was followed by a Q & A with our host for the evening Jane Lewis. Jane interviewed Stevie Kirk, Jim Griffin and Iain Ferguson and the audience engaged from the floor with some very interesting questions.

We’re delighted that the film was received so warmly by the cinema audience and we hope you enjoy it too.

You can watch on BBC ALBA on Friday the 18th of May at 9pm, and the film will also be available on the BBC iPlayer.
